Watch VideoIn the wake of the murder of George Floyd last summer and the resulting unrest over racial injustice, organizations across the country made public commitments to support equity and combat racism. One year later, CommonHealth ACTION reviewed those commitments and the progress that has been made to make them a reality. The National Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Commitment Update identifies organizations that have made public statements regarding EDI and racial justice and are committed to combatting systemic racism. The report also shines a light on new partnerships that were established between organizations with the intention of encouraging equity within communities.
The commitments in the report are divided into three categories: Policies, Programs, and Practices. We define these terms as follows:
Our goal for this report is to acknowledge and uplift organizations that are implementing EDI within their workplace and communities. We encourage other organizations to use the data in this report as examples of how they can take that first step on their EDI journey.
The movement toward EDI is an ongoing process. Therefore, we will continue to update this report to document progress and include more organizations that are publicly announcing commitments to EDI, racial justice, and combatting systemic racism as well as those that have taken tangible actions.
