CommonHealth ACTION’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Training Institute features a proprietary curriculum that serves as the foundation for our learning experiences, and it also reflects how we frame our work and perspective. The curriculum includes tools and processes that support the learner’s perspective transformation and ensures the practical application of the knowledge gained from the learning experience. We show participants how to use an equity lens to analyze and design policies, programs, and practices while applying that same approach to their individual decisions, behaviors, and actions.
Our EDI Training Institute uses a Foundations of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (FEDI) course as the basis for the work that we do. Learners have a variety of options to take our FEDI courses: online, virtual, in-person, or a hybrid of those formats. Our courses are specialized to help provide meaning and understanding of EDI concepts and help everyone figure out how they can be their most equitable. Our courses prepare individuals to make decisions and act more equitably in both their personal and professional lives. Throughout this course, you may experience constructive discomfort that helps pave the way for meaningful, long-lasting change. After taking our FEDI courses, our goal is for learners to achieve perspective transformation – the idea that once individuals know, think, and believe something different, they will decide, behave, and act differently. Topics covered in the courses include common language, historical context, racism & implicit bias, privilege & oppression, equity lens, and policy.
We offer a variety of methods to complete the courses, including self-directed, where learners can complete the lessons online at their own pace. This option is offered for individuals or groups. Our facilitated courses can be completed either in-person, virtual or a hybrid of both. Registrants who successfully complete the course can earn up to 1.7 continuing education units (CEUs) and a digital badge from the EDI Training Institute.
